Minutes of Steering Committee,
Winchester Area VOTF, August 4, 2004, 7.30 p.m.

In attendance: Bob Morris, Anna-Marie Ferraro, Jane Howard, Jan Dolan, Alice Wadden, Bill Murphy, Clare Keane.

The Opening Prayer was offered by Bob.

Financial Report: Currently our balance is $2099. After deductions for Dick Ryan's book, David Gibson's book, and Bob's printing expenses, we will show a balance of roughly $1412. After much discussion, the group agreed to make a donation of $200 from our affiliate to the Boston VOTF's Mass on the Common. They have many expenses associated with this event and will gladly accept donations.

Boston VOTF Mass: so far 4 people have shown interest in carpooling. The clipboard will be circulated again at Monday night's meeting.

Recent Meetings: Speakers were well attended and well received. Working groups are targeting sale of Christmas cards for survivors, Prayer calendar for priests.

Future Meetings: Jane will get a bio of Patricia Hayes for August 23. David Regan, a survivor who benefited from our sale of Christmas cards and wrote to thank us, will speak on Sept. 20. Fr. Jim Keenan will return to us on Sept. 27 to talk about the rights of priests in exercising their ministry more fully and collaboratively. Sr. Janice Farnham will return on Oct. 4. No dates are set yet for an introduction to faith sharing groups. though October 18 is a possibility.  Professor Jane Regan from B.C., Gary Bergeron (survivor) are potential future speakers.  A panel discussion of parish councils is in the planning stages.

Open Discussion: Bob noted that he has had a brief discussion with Pat Gomez of Our Lady Help of Christians,
Concord over the possibility they will merge with us when their parish closes.
Bill Murphy talked about the logistics of introducing the faith sharing in small groups concept.
We will determine as soon as possible on which December Monday the Giving Tree gifts will be sorted, so that we can be available for that effort.

The next Steering Committee meeting will be on Sept. 8.
